Xcaret

Ok so we finally did it, we have been to a big American-style tourist attraction. To be honest, we loved every minute of it, it was a really great day. That is right, we loved all the cheery folk greeting us, the safety signs, the photo points and the moron guide as to how to put on a life jacket. Its not that we are not proper travelers, honest, but this park just put together all the little bits of the Yucatan that we have loved so much elsewhere. Underground rivers to swim down, archaeological ruins, amazing wildlife, cenotes, beautiful beaches... the list goes on. Tess saw her first dolphin, manatee and sea turtles so was gleaming all over, there are three more things that we have to add to our list of pets we aspire to own, urgh.

To top it all off there was a wicked night show where they performed the infamous 'ball game' of the Maya, hockey with the ball on fire, loads of traditional Mexican dancing which made us reminisce of our 3 months here in Mexico, oh and lots of Gay singing cowboys (don't know what that was about!). The show ended with a flock of parrots flying over the huge auditorium and streamers falling all over us from the roof. They even flew a British flag right in front of our seats! So much fun! Check out more pics on flickr!
